Marassa Jumeaux

In Voodoo, the Marassa Jumeaux are children, but more ancient than any other Loa. They are the divine twins – male, female, and neither male nor female. They personify the contradictions and mysteries of heaven and earth, the secrets of astronomical-astroglogical knowledge, and the impotence of the human condition in the face of divine power.

In many hounfor, or temples, they are never invoked through the possession of a Hounsi, Houngan or Mambo but are served and honored after Legba, but before the main proceedings.
